This picture shelf began as a simple solution to a common problem. I buy more postcards than I send—during a recent trip to Japan, I collected many that I wanted to keep rather than mail. The idea of putting pins through these postcards horrified me, but keeping them hidden in a box felt wasteful. So I designed this small shelf specifically to display postcards, small cards, and light artwork that can lean against a wall.

I made two versions: one a meter long and another 650mm. They feature V-grooves that provide angles to support the cards, and the wall mounting is minimal—just two screws required. I crafted these particular shelves from cherry wood, though I've also made one in maple.
