I cut this tray from a single piece of oak. Chamfered, sanded, and ebonized, the idea was to create a tray in its most simple form, where the surface itself serves as the handle.

The wood grain creates natural lines visible in the light—I used an ebonizing process to turn the oak black, which highlights these patterns. The dark color doesn't diminish the tray's natural wooden feel—you can still sense the handmade quality in every curve and surface.

On reflection, the handle may be a bit high for the tray's overall dimensions—but a few weeks of use will tell.

Finished with Osmo Top Oil to provide a food-safe surface, just in case…
